Midnight Noon
/Here’s a sparkling wine cocktail for your New Year's Eve or New Year's Day pleasure! This is kind of a hybrid between a Bramble and a French 75. The spiciness of the ginger cuts through the bright acidity of the lemon juice. The blackberry is a persistent fruity backbone to the drink and the herbaceous qualities of gin play well with everything. A dry sparkling wine tempers the sugar in the syrup and contributes to a nicely balanced drink. The ginger I used for the syrup was a particularly potent ginger, so you may need to add an additional barspoon or more to get the amount of ginger you like in the drink. The recipe can handle more sugar, I just had to cut back on the ginger syrup because the spiciness was overpowering in any larger of a quantity.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Bristow Gin
- .5 oz lemon juice
- .5 oz blackberry syrup
- 1 barspoon ginger syrup
- Sparkling wine to top
Directions:
Shake everything but the bubbles in a tin with ice. Double strain into a champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon peel and a blackberry.
